Is the Bachelor of Applied Technology a regular bachelor's degree?
Yes. The BAT has been accredited by SACS, the accreditation body for all colleges and universities in the Southern region of the country.
Is the BAT going to be accepted in an MBA program?
Yes. The basic requirement for admission to any master's program is a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Depending on the nature of the master's program, applicants must have taken some specific undergraduate courses. Therefore, an applicant without all required undergraduate courses is accepted under the condition of fulfilling this course requirement before officially becoming a graduate student.
In the specific case of an MBA, BAT is very well suited. The basic pre-courses required for this kind of program are in the fields of business, management, economics, mathematics, and statistics. The BAT curriculum is strong in these fields; therefore, a student holding this bachelor degree will be a good candidate for an MBA program. The same can be said about a master in Technology Management and new technology oriented master's degree programs.
Is the BAT going to be accepted in a Law degree program?
Yes. The basic requirement for admission to a law school is a bachelor degree. Traditionally, applicants to law programs come from undergraduate programs in humanities and social sciences. However, given the new environment of business, economics and technology, law schools welcome applicants with background in science, technology, and business.
How does the BAT degree compare to a bachelor in business administration degree?
A bachelor in business administration has the appealing of tradition and prestige. The BAT has the appealing of the new and forward. Business administration programs have very well defined areas: management, accounting, finance, marketing, human resources. The BAT program focuses in the management of technologies in all kind of enterprises. Where as a business administration bachelor provides a general background, the BAT provides applied knowledge in the management.
Is the BAT degree for technically oriented people?
Not necessarily. Technology is part of everyday life, and the curriculum in the BAT degree expands one's mind to understand the many processes that exist in the new industry. By the same token, technology pervades all environments, and technology management requires a variety of skills, talents, and interests.
Can I declare the BAT degree in Technology Management as a freshman?
Yes, a first year entering freshman can declare the BAT as their major, however in addition to the required STC admissions paperwork, a completed BAT program application is required to determine eligibility for admission into the BAT program.
Can I transfer upper-division Management Specialization courses from other Institutions?
Transfer of upper-division courses into the BAT program may be accepted from other regionally accredited institution on a case-by-case basis. Students must submit official transcripts from institutions where the upper-division coursework was taken for evaluation of possible transfer credit.
Can I transfer lower-division Management Specialization courses from other Institutions?
Lower-Division Technical Specialty courses will be accepted from other institutions into the BAT program on a case-by-case basis. Any lower-division general education/Core Curriculum will be accepted.
