Welcome
Welcome to the Centers for Learning Excellence (CLE) at South Texas College. At the CLE, our goal is to help students acquire the independent learning skills they need to be successful in college and throughout their lives. To accomplish this, the CLE provides quality tutoring and academic support in a broad variety of subject areas. In addition to tutoring services, each CLE on STC’s five campuses house computer labs where students can access technological resources to enhance learning along with group-study rooms for students to use with or without tutoring assistance.
The CLE also supports various instructional programs and services like Supplemental Instruction, Student Success Workshops, Group Tutoring by Appointment, Exam Proctoring, and Learning Communities. Each and every member of our staff believes in the important role that quality learning support can play in helping students achieve their academic goals, and in keeping with this belief, we work to provide the highest caliber of service and support possible to STC students, faculty, and staff. We are proud of the fact that our programs and services have been certified up to the highest level possible by the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA), an international organization that evaluates and certifies learning centers and tutoring programs based on high professional standards. We want our patrons to be assured of the superior level of assistance they will receive when they come to the CLE. Our centers are located at the Pecan Campus, Mid-Valley Campus, Starr County Campus, Nursing and Allied Health Campus, and the Technology Campus.
On behalf of the CLE staff, I encourage you to visit our centers to get to know us better, and I invite you to share any ideas you have about how the CLE can best support the STC community we serve.
