Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP)

Accreditation

South Texas College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award Baccalaureate and Associate degrees. South Texas College also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels. Questions about the accreditation of South Texas College may be directed in writing to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges at 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, GA 30033-4097, by calling (404) 679-4500, or by using information available on SACSCOC’s website (www.sacscoc.org).

What is the QEP?

As part of the college’s continued accreditation, the college is required to develop a Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) (Standard 7.2). The QEP is a 5-year focused commitment to enhance overall institutional quality and effectiveness by focusing on an issue the institution considers important to improving student learning outcomes and/or student success.

QEP Planning Team

In order to create a QEP that focuses on student learning and meets the other SACS-COC requirements, a QEP Planning Team was established to identify several viable QEP topics via input from our STC stakeholders and community. The Planning Team will continue to gather input from college constituents to have a topic selected for a QEP. The Planning Team has broad representation from every Division within the College, including: Faculty; Academic Affairs; Student Services & Enrollment Management; Finance & Administrative Services; and Information Services, Planning, Performance and Strategic Initiatives.

QEP Implementation Team

Once the QEP Topic is selected, a QEP Implementation Team will be established to develop the topic into a viable plan for Implementation, examine baseline data, and develop the assessment plan.

Potential QEP Topics at STC

Below are the current proposed topics for QEP:

  1. First Year Experience
  2. Comprehensive Advising
