CRLA Certified
In June 2003, South Texas College’s Centers for Learning Excellence (formerly the Student Success Centers) became sanctioned by the College Reading and Learning Association (an international organization of learning assistance professionals comprised of more than 700 colleges and universities in the United States and Canada) to issue CRLA certification to our STC Tutors.
All Tutors are encouraged to become CRLA certified. To obtain CRLA certification, a Tutor must meet several requirements:
- Complete 13 hours of formal training
- Obtain 100 hours of tutoring experience
- Submit a request for certification
- Submit an essay which addresses the tutor’s philosophy of tutoring or experience as a tutor
